Select Committee
Posted May 26th, 2007 by Dr James Pratt
A committee of Members of Parliament drawn proportionally according to party membership in the House. Select committees have several important functions and primarily exist to
scrutinize the actions of the executive and provide public input into the policy making process. All bills, except those proceeding under urgency, are examined by a select committee who call for public submissions, and then make recommendations on amendments to the House.
