The Income Tax Act 1994 has several different definitions of trading stock, each applying according to the particular part or provision of the Act under consideration. The definition generally applying for trading stock for valuation purposes is inclusive, not exhaustive, and includes: anything that is manufactured, produced or acquired and held for sale or exchange in the ordinary course of business, work in progress and livestock.
