The search for Wellington’s next billion-dollar idea has begun.

The Cable Car Challenge business plan competition is an initiative designed to flush out the region’s entrepreneurial visions.

Started by the Wellington Innovation Network and sponsored by Positively Wellington Business, the competition is open to anyone in the wider Wellington region with a good idea and a business plan.

The winner will receive a $50,000, prize package, including $30,000 seed capital.

Entrants have to submit an online business plan, and a selection of finalists will be given an eight-minute opportunity - the same time as a return trip on the Wellington Cable Car to impress a judging panel of the region’s leading entrepreneurs.

Runners-up will get $2000 and professional support.
